Project Name:Beach & Edinger Self Storage & Retail (3364)

Location:Westminster, CA & Huntington Beach, CA

Contract Value:$ 1.1M

Project Summary:

Kana Pipeline worked with several different Agencies and under the jurisdiction of two neighboring cities to install Offsite Sewer, Storm Drainage Systems and bore a Domestic Waterline underneath the 405 Freeway.

Highlights: Kana bored approximately 362 LF of 12" CML&C water main pipe with corresponding 24" casing underneath the 405 Freeway in order to provide new water service pipeline improvements to neighbors in the City of Westminster on the other side of the 405 freeway. Strict measurements were in place to monitor and maintain the Freeway's integrity. Kana worked with Cal Trans Authorities to ensure that the utmost precautions and safety measures were taken. Additionally, this 12" CML&C water pipeline main had to be siphoned under the County of Orange Storm Drain Channel. Due to groundwater prevalent in the area, Kana used various measures to mitigate groundwater by dewatering using pumps and a 500 gal. water sediment tank as well as coordinating efforts with the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) . Kana also installed several 1" and 2" water services, Testing, Chlorinating, etc. for the adjacent homes affected by this new construction and worked within Westminster's Water District's requirement. Kana installed approximately 700 LF of 8" onsite and offsite sewer pipeline main and manholes at the intersection of Beach Blvd. & Edinger Ave. This street work was performed at night, which also required taking down traffic control after every shift so as not to obstruct daytime traffic. Kana coordinated this work with the City of Huntington Beach Public Works and Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Inspectors.
