Pipeline Construction Companies

We are often asked, what is the difference between wet and dry pipeline construction companies? Pipeline construction companies can basically be separated into two (2) categories: dry and wet utility pipeline construction. Some pipeline companies do one or specific combinations of wet / dry pipeline construction. Dry utility pipeline construction companies install pipelines that are typically non-petroleum based, that do not hold liquid volumes inside the pipes.

In contrast, there are wet utility pipeline construction companies such as those that install sewer, water pipeline and storm drainage systems. These types of utilities carry liquid volume in the pipe, and are therefore called, "wet" utility pipelines for this reason. Next time you are looking for "pipeline construction companies," consider whether you need dry or wet utility pipeline contractors. Note, too, that oftentimes, they may be referred to as "underground" pipeline construction companies.

Wet utility pipeline construction companies, or underground pipeline contractors, typically install any one or a combination of these wet utility pipelines:

Sewer pipeline which carries sewage from homes and businesses and feeds to a sewage processing plant.
Domestic water pipeline used to bring potable water to households and businesses.
Reclaimed or Recycled water pipelines to feed non-potable water for landscaping and irrigation uses.
Fireline pipeline to service systems that put out fires such as fire sprinkler systems that are generally installed indoors and fire hydrants and fire department connections that are typically installed outdoors, close to a building.
Storm Drainage Systems to carry rainwater and other drainage runoff which feeds to ocean or treatment facilities.
Petroleum carries natural resources and feeds to processing plants and other facilities for use in various products.

Dry utility and other construction companies typically install:

Electrical facilities and conduit systems that feed electricity to and throughout households and businesses. Note some power line installations that were typically installed overhead, are trending towards becoming installed completely underground in newer communities. This creates more "open" and possibly safer environments, preventing vehicular and other nature-bound damages to above-ground power poles and connecting power lines.
Gas pipelines which carry natural (air) gas to households and businesses for kitchens and heating use.
Telecommunications utility lines which carry communication facilities that feed household and businesses with Internet, television and phone services.

After determining your new construction project needs, consider the contractor's specialty, as some contractors may be union-based and only specialize in prevailing wage, state or federally funded projects. Others may be non-union, and only specialize in i.e. private residential or commercial sewer construction as their forte. Special teams within these pipeline construction companies should understand the delicate inner workings of each market sector - from residential to commercial, industrial and public works type of construction projects.

If you don't know pipeline, you have to be willing to listen to the people that do. It's important for construction project owners to trust their chosen utility and/or pipeline utility contractor. The right pipeline construction companies should be able to install pipelines and related infrastructures driven by quality, charting themselves on course to being your pipeline contractor of choice.
